    Will Acelab’s search algorithms only return suppliers that are paying for the service?

    No, we pride ourselves on the transparency of information and will always provide all viable product options for a specific research question.

    What is the Acelab mission?

    Acelab is the single source destination for an architect’s product research and specification workflows. Unlike current methods of repetitive search using google, spreadsheets, or other manual methods, Acelab turns tedious manual specification tasks into an educational and inspirational design process.

    The Acelab product is free to use for architects, contractors, specifiers, manufacturers and suppliers. Suppliers that wish to have a branding page and the ability to collaborate with users directly in the platform pay an annual subscription fee for that service.

    Why was Acelab founded?

    Acelab was founded by a team of practicing architects that learned firsthand the tedium of specifications due to lack of organization in doing product research. It can be tough to find accurate, up-to-date data on the various products that are available and even harder to compare them in a meaningful way. As a result, architects spend a significant amount of time sifting through multiple sources and trying to make sense of the data, which can be frustrating and inefficient. Another frustration is the need to constantly switch between different websites and databases to access the information architects need. This can be time-consuming and can disrupt the flow of design work. In addition, architects find it difficult to discover products that meet their specific requirements and constraints. For example, you may need to find products that are suitable for use in a specific location or climate, or that meet certain performance standards. This can be a challenging and time-consuming process, especially if the information you need is scattered across multiple sources. Overall, the lack of a centralized, organized resource for product research and specification is a major frustration for project teams and can hinder their ability to make informed decisions and deliver high-quality designs to the clients. The founders set out to provide an easy-to-use, convenient digital collaboration platform that was designed from the ground up with the architect in mind.
