Sustainability

Insulating concrete forms are a sustainable and green building material and can provide up to 37 LEED credits to a structure just through their use. 21 of these 37 are in energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases. 6 points come from material and resource, 5 from innovation and design, 2 each from sustainable sites and regional property and 1 from indoor environmental quality. A typical ICF built home may saves at least 50 trees. Styrenes are a waste byproduct of oil refining. The oil companies would just burn them off. Instead we can use them for buildings and permanently sequester that carbon. Also, an ICF house on average will use about 70% less energy than a stick frame house, which further reduces its carbon footprint.
